Genesee is beautifully located in Jefferson County at an elevation of 7,648 feet and has a total area of 6.7 square miles, all of which is land with a lot of natural beauty and abundant native wildlife such as deer, elk, and wild turkeys. The first elk and buffalo herds were reestablished in Colorado in 1914. You will find 12 miles of maintained hiking trails within 1,200 acres of dedicated open space. There are two terrific clubhouses in the neighborhood, each with a pool.
Weather
The weather is quite nice with the highest average temperature being 80.1 degrees in July and the coldest average temperature being 35.4 degrees in December.
Statistics
According to the United States Census Bureau, the population was only 3,609 in 2010 and has increased to 3,655. The median household income, median age, and median house value are all significantly above the state average, and the unemployed percentage is below the state average.
The median home value is 159.2% greater than the Colorado average and 238.3% greater than the national average. The median rental rate is 78.4% greater than the Colorado average and 83.6% greater than the National average. The high school graduation rate is an amazing 99%.
Neighborhoods
Living on the spectacular mountain property means that you enjoy panoramic vistas of downtown Denver, the Continental Divide, and the majestic Mt. Evans. There are 883 homes on 2,000 acres in small neighborhoods that have a strong sense of community and provide desired privacy.
Genesee Park
In the Denver Mountain Parks system, this largest mountain park, and Denver’s first, has 2,413 acres acquired in 1912, 1937, and a new 10-acre addition in 2007.
There is the historic 8.65-mile Beaver Brook Trail, a Buffalo Overlook, a Braille Nature Trail, the Chief Hosa Lodge and Campground, and Youth Programs at the Genesee Experiential Center.
