Arvada is known for its arts as well, with a theater center that produces plays and musicals to rival those in the nearby Bonfils Arts Center in Denver. A few miles from the shopping and metropolitan atmosphere of Arvada, several highways turn upward into the craggy gorges and aspen meadows of the Rocky Mountains, where ski slopes and hiking trails are an easy drive away.
