Tiny and historic, the unique town of Morrison lies to the west of the Hogback rock formation and is therefore separated from its metropolitan neighbors. It seems like a remote mountain town, but it is conveniently located next to highway C-470 and near I-70. Morrison homes for sale are about a thirty minute drive from downtown Denver. Locals call it the “Nearest Faraway Place” and it is most well-known for its location at the base of Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater. If you have not yet attended a concert at this magnificent outdoor, natural amphitheater, you’ve got to do so! Morrison has some interesting places to shop and you can see some of the historic architecture made from the red sandstone that was quarried in this area. It has been designated as a National Historic Area. There are also some wonderful places to dine, the most famous being the nearby Fort Restaurant. Morrison is a fantastic place to start exploring the numerous trails that run through the Jefferson County Open Space Parks that surround the town. Natural history buffs will want to explore the Dinosaur Ridge area to see exposed dinosaur footprints and the fossil displays at the Morrison Natural History Museum.
