Nestled in a scenic valley below the iconic Flatirons is a city that enjoys three hundred days of sunshine every year.

It’s known as Boulder, and many consider it a world-class destination as it is home to a top-notch university, federal research labs, and some of the best restaurants in the region.

According to the city’s website, the Boulder Valley was first home to Native Americans; primarily the southern Arapaho tribe that maintained a village near Haystack Mountain.

It was in the fall of 1858, that gold seekers established the first non-native settlement in Boulder County.

Today Boulder is a thriving metropolis that is home to 107,000 residents. In fact, homes for sale in Boulder are more popular than ever. If you’re considering moving to this wonderful city, here are some things you may want to know:

Education

The Boulder Valley School District educates the city’s children, and it spans 500 square miles from the peaks of the Continental Divide to the suburbs of Denver. It consistently ranks among the top three of Colorado’s large Front Range school districts, and there are approximately 30,000 students and more than 4,000 employees.

Boulder Farmers Market

The Boulder Farmers Market sits at 13th Street between Canyon Boulevard and Arapahoe Avenue. It’s one of the city’s major attractions, and in 2015, Cooking Light Magazine named it one of the top fifty markets in the country. The market offers fruits, vegetables, locally sourced crafts, potted seedlings for home gardeners, and so much more. The season runs from the first Saturday in April through the Saturday preceding Thanksgiving, and from the first Wednesday in May through the first Wednesday in October.

Parks

The City of Boulder maintains more than sixty parks, and one you don’t want to miss is Andrews Arboretum. Its beautiful plants, native evergreens, and exotic trees provide a beautiful backdrop for visitors who stroll along the central path.
